This app will quickly find files to recover from hard drives and select USB devices, but a limitation makes a true test difficult. (Firelion) Get My Files Back's multitabbed novice-friendly interface has a mere four buttons for all operations. Still, inclusion of a Help file or at least some onscreen instruction would save users time by explaining that the program's filter function operates only on the More Results tab.
Operating the application is very simple. Users merely choose a Quick or Thorough Scan for a selected drive. Recoverable files are quickly listed as they're found. Details include name, extension, size, modified, and created dates listed. Unfortunately, there isn't a method to sort the list by any of the displayed data. A filter is easily applied to results, but the filtered files are only displayed in a folder tree. A list you could sort would be much easier to scan.
The demo displays found file data in HEX and ASCII, but doesn't allow recovery without registering the program. The displayed data certainly gives the impression Get My Files Back would deliver, but that's difficult to prove with the limitation. This tool does find the recoverable files quickly, but that's no indication recovery would be as quick. However, some may decide Get My Files Back's demo proves enough to purchase the application.
